This weeks was Philla. In real life he is a graphic designer, working for companies like BMW. In his 2nd life, he is one of the grooviest DJs Moscows and famous with his partner Dima Studitsky for their Propaganda Got Soul parties, every Tuesday. Since a few weeks Philla is also playing at our Saturday parties at Paparazzi. They play a nice mix of soul, funk, disco and house. Even some RnB tracks. We are not thinking in genres, he says. Its important that the track has a good energy and positive vibes. We want our people to smile, when they dance… and that is why LBLFCKR likes Philla and Studitsky and their Got Soul project.

This weeks podcast is full of these positive and groovy vibes. Philla is telling us about his beginnings as a DJ, how he found his niche and why its not so bad to be refused by the face-control of a glam club.

Last year we started our Studio 21 Podcast, where we invite our friends to DJ for us (and you). We spend 2 hrs together over a few drinks. Our friends are playing their favorite tracks and we chat about life, djing, nightlife, arts and so on.We used to do that in our apartments living room (apt 21) and since this week we have moved our podcast to our new residence Paparazzi Bar. Studio 21 Podcast with DJ Filq

As many of you know, I’m doing Labelfucker. One day we arrived at our apartment for a small after party in our living room. We had Filq there and Louis from Paris that night. Both played great stuff and talked about the music, while I mixed some of my favorite drinks.

Hey, we need to record this, I said and a few weeks later we recorded our first podcast with Louis. We have done a few since. They are far from being perfect. Our setup is low tech and we are usually drunk after a while, but we’re having fun and that is why we do it.

In the meantime we were offered to record the show in a radio studio to make it a much better quality, but that wouldn’t be like hanging out in our living room. Its always the same. A few people come by, I make nice (and strong drinks) and a DJ or other guest is sitting on our couch playing music for us. Usually it goes for a few hours and on Wednesday you can hear the result.

This podcast is with FILQ, who played in our living room last night. I supplied Water Melon Man cocktails (just the right thing for his season), a drink created by Cookies, a famous party man in Berlin and owner of one of Berlins best and legendary clubs: Cookies.

We’re still trying to manage some technical issues (yes, sometimes the voices are not loud enough), but we are slowly getting there. That is also, why we are currently only doing podcast with our LF DJs, so we can re-do them later with ease. Once we are better with the tech stuff, we are also inviting some guest DJs. We already talked to Pirumov of Flammable Beats, Andriesh, the Epik Sound crew, Filq and many others.

This weeks guest was Pasha Fookin’. Originally we had the plan to split the DJ set between Kid-Fu-Kin and Gun, but at the end, Pasha played a 3 hour set of nice tunes and we were listening and commenting. Other guests that night were Louis Lebee (he is still in town), Gun and Maximali. Our Studio 21 podcast becomes and institution, with people popping in on Tuesday nights, just to be there live or to be a part of the show. Studio 21 Podcast with Louis Lebee

Here is something new. Besides our Mixtapes, we are recording live djsets. We invite some of Moscows coolest DJs and international DJ guests to hang out with us in our livingroom. Usually there are a few other guest as well. Friends and family and of course there is the Room-Mate, our 2 month resident student renting one of the rooms.

We did a few of these radio shows already, but we’re still figuring out the technology and how to use our equipment the best way. This is the first usable version with Louis Lebee from Paris, as our guest. Louis is here for a 4 week scout mission, trying to decide, if he should move to Moscow for a while to DJ here and get into Moscows nightlife. The podcast is far from being perfect. Sometimes you don’t hear us talking well, since the mic level is too low. Sorry, again, we’re new to this and we’re just starting. Nevertheless the music is killer and that is why I decided to upload this one. Louis dug deep into his harddrives to play some of his personal favorites and to give us a little feel about whats going on in Paris these days.
